STATE FAIR CELEBRATES CYNDI YOUNG’S AGRICULTURE SERVICE

Cyndi
Young-Puyear,
of Brownfield Ag News, was named the 2008 Service to
Agriculture Award recipient at the Illinois State Fair Agriculture Day Luncheon
on August 12. The award is sponsored by Farm Credit Services of Illinois.
Cyndi grew up on her
family’s Scott County
farm near Winchester.
She was a youth member of 4-H and FFA and served as the Illinois State Beef
Queen. After earning an agriculture education degree with an animal science emphasis
from Western Illinois
University, Cyndi began her farm
broadcasting career at WJIL in Jacksonville
in 1985. She also worked for Oklahoma Agri-net
and served as farm director for WTAX in Springfield.
In 1997, she joined Brownfield as Regional
Farm Director and was named Farm Broadcaster of the Year by the National
Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB). She was promoted by Brownfield to farm
director and manager in 2001.
Cyndi is a renowned public
speaker in the agriculture industry who has traveled throughout the United States
and to 15 other counties. She is the
author of a weekly column in Illinois AgriNews and is currently vice president
for the NAFB Foundation. Cyndi and her husband,
Jim Puyear, reside at Rocking P
Ranch near Jamestown, Missouri, where they own a herd of registered Simmental
cattle.
Brownfield provides
commodity and livestock reports,

programming to 280 radio stations across the Midwest.
They also produce “Agriculture Today”,
an electronic newsletter that provides a daily snapshot of agriculture news.
