Five farmers have been re-elected to the Farm Credit Services of Illinois board of directors by the agricultural lending cooperative’s member owners. Subsequently, the Farm Credit board of directors elected a new board chair and vice chair at the board’s 2009 organizational meeting.
Re-elected board members include: Lance Beery, of Findlay, to a four-year term for region one; Mike Carls, of Virginia, to a two-year term for region one; Dale Crawford, of Sullivan, to a four-year term for region two; Dennis Frey, of Dahlgren, to a four-year term to region three; and Larry Hasheider, of Okawville, to a three-year term to region three. |

Jack Hastings, of Louisville, was elected board chair. A board member since 1985, Jack operates a Clay County farm where he raises corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, and beef cattle. He earned a degree in agricultural economics and agronomy from Southern Illinois University. Jack is a member of the Clay County Farm Bureau, the Illinois Beef Association, and St. John’s Lutheran Church where he serves as treasurer is on the church council. Jack succeeds Lance Beery who has served as the Farm Credit Services of Illinois board chair since 2001 |

Dale Crawford was elected board vice chair. He is a Moultrie County corn and soybean farmer who has served on the board since 2006. He is a director of the Moultrie County Farm Bureau and the Illinois Soybean Association and serves as secretary-treasurer of the Moultrie-Sullivan Junior Fair Association. Dale is a member of the Jonathan Creek Christian Church and the Sullivan Community Educational Foundation. He earned a degree from the University of Illinois and graduated from the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation. |

Lance Beery raises corn, soybeans, wheat, and beef cattle on his Shelby County farm. He attended Lakeland College and Eastern Illinois University. He is a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, the Illinois Beef Association, and the Findlay Methodist Church where he serves as a trustee. Lance has served as a Farm Credit director since 1983. |

Mike Carls operates a corn and soybean farm in Cass County and has served as a director since 2006. Mike earned a degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois and serves as director of the Menard Electric Cooperative and Prairie Power Cooperative. He is treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville and is president of Thrivent Financial’s Lutheran River Bluff Chapter. |

Dennis Frey operates a Hamilton County corn, soybeans, and wheat farm and has served on the board since 1991. A plant and soil science graduate of Southern Illinois University, Dennis is a director of the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District and a trustee for Crouch Township. He is a member of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau and the Wayne, White, and Hamilton County Extension Council. Dennis is a founding member of the Hamilton County Rotary Club and is active with St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dahlgren. |

Larry Hasheider’s family farm in Washington County raises irrigated corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa and includes dairy, beef, and a wean-to-finish hog enterprise. An applied science graduate of Southwestern Illinois Area College, Larry has served on the Farm Credit board since 2006. He is an Illinois Corn Marketing Board district director and serves as the executive committee’s export chair. Larry is a past director of the Washington County Farm Bureau and has been involved with the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District and the County Planning Commission.
